How the1000 Journal Project Started
"Someguy," an artist in San Francisco, took 1000 journals, stamped
them with numbers and information on getting them back to him, and left
them in public places--bus stations, bathrooms, on top of newspaper
dispensers.
That was in 2000. Very few of the journals came back. But those that
did were crammed with drawings, writing, poems, ideas, maps, and raw
creativity.
Andrea Kreuzhage, a film producer and director,
made a DVD about the project.
I saw the film and knew I had to participate in a project like this.
Andrea invited me to join the 1000 Journal Extension--teachers who
manage and circulate journals, and, in my case,
teach journaling as well.
